The WASTELESS Decision Support Toolbox, an open-access platform represents a major achievement in our collective effort to reduce food loss and waste (FLW) across Europe.

From Complexity to Practical Guidance

A fully functional, open access Decision Support Toolbox that translates complex FLW data into practical, user-friendly guidance was successfully developed. We managed to integrate methodologies, tools, and real-world practices into a coherent system that supports stakeholders in making informed decisions. This is not just a conceptual framework, but a working platform that ensures accessibility, interoperability, and replicability across different contexts.

We have moved beyond conceptual frameworks to deliver a working platform that ensures accessibility, interoperability, and replicability across different contexts empowering stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions.

The toolbox functions as a web-based Decision Support System designed to help food system actors identify the most appropriate methods for measuring and monitoring FLW based on their specific needs.

A Lasting Legacy for the Food System

The completion of this toolbox is not just an end-of-project deliverable. This is a tool for long-term capacity building as it was designed for scalability and replication, meaning it can be adopted in different regions and continuously enriched with new data and practices.

By adhering to FAIR data principles and open-access policies, we have ensured that our work will support future research and policy development for years to come.

We believe that this platform is a solution that truly bridges the gap between high-level research and real-world application ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and resilient food system.
