Fazla was founded in 2016 by Olcay Silahli and Arda Eren with the mission of inspiring young generations as a social startup that works for a sustainable world with impact on its heart. With that mission, Fazla started creating technology-based holistic solutions to reduce waste and waste borne carbon emission. As being the first Turkish startup chosen for the Accelerate 2030 Program to be supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Fazla serves for 5 crucial Sustainable Development Goals which are Zero Hunger, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, and Partnerships for the Goal. While supporting the circular economy, Fazla provides technology-based solutions to help its partners recover value out of their surplus including food, packaging, textile, and chemical by creating the highest environmental, social, and financial value. Throughout its 6 year-journey, the company saved more than 58.000 tonnes of food from going to waste and prevented 83.000 tonnes of carbon emissions. By working hand to hand with Gida Kurtarma Dernegi for donation operations, the company reaches over 1.25 millions of people in need each month.
