SecureFood Summary
The SecureFood project takes a systems-thinking approach to strengthen food supply chain
resilience in alignment with EU strategies like Farm to Fork, Biodiversity, and the European
Green Deal. It aims to create an ecosystem of scientific knowledge, collaborative processes,
and digital tools to identify risks and vulnerabilities across food value categories and
geographies. The program is built on two crucial frameworks: the Food Systems Resilience
Management Framework and a Resilience Governance Framework, both designed to
organise and implement the project’s findings through real-life case studies.
The program’s ambition encompasses four dimensions: advancing scientific knowledge
through exploratory research methods; safeguarding food supply through comprehensive
resilience assessment beyond national boundaries; accelerating food systems
transformation through collaborative governance; and applying innovative knowledge via
advanced digital tools for data collection and processing. The methodology is structured
around three interconnected pillars: scientific knowledge (both existing and developing),
collaborative principles integrated throughout, and digital solutions supporting all aspects of
the project.
