The WASTELESS European project is launching a new call for external experts to contribute to the evaluation of its innovative Tools & Methodologies (T&Ms) for measuring and monitoring food waste (FW) across the entire food supply chain.
These tools are designed to address key challenges in food loss and waste tracking, data collection, and process optimisation, from primary production to household consumption. The insights of external professionals are now essential to assess each tool’s performance, usability, and potential for real-world application.
T&Ms were tested over various pilot case studies under this Horizon Europe project. However, expert evaluations may contribute to highlighting strengths, pinpointing limitations, and suggesting targeted improvements to increase their functionality.

The new assessment questionnaire, developed in line with European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) guidelines on evaluating food waste prevention actions, enable through simple closed-ended questions the evaluation of effectiveness and efficiency of each T&M, the robustness of the key performance indicators (KPIs) used, their alignment with SMART criteria (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) and overall consideration of tools’ usability, scalability, and expected impact.
Participants may choose to evaluate one or more tools, depending on their expertise. Each evaluation will be supported with all necessary documentation and materials, including presentations, user guides, and video demonstrations.
By joining the assessment, experts can actively contribute to the development of more effective solutions for food waste prevention and strengthen the scientific and practical impact of the project’s results.
The questionnaire is accessible through this link: Help us to reduce Food Waste.
