PRECIOUS seeks to build a systemic, multi-actor approach to FLW prevention. The project will develop and share a standardised database of effective FLWPR actions, addressing both their benefits and potential rebound effects. It also aims to create holistic methodologies that engage diverse food system stakeholders, incorporating sustainability science, climate change considerations, biodiversity preservation, and policy priorities into an integrated framework.

Specific Goals Include:

  • Quantifying the environmental footprint and rebound effects of FLWPR actions across the food supply chain (FSC).
  • Developing and implementing two real-world use cases to validate the effectiveness of these actions.
  • Providing policy recommendations to support sustainable FLW practices across Europe.
  • Establishing Communities of Practice to promote knowledge-sharing and co-creation with local stakeholders.”
